Microneedling is most often used on your face to target:
- Acne Scars
- Sun Spots
- Fine Lines and Wrinkles
- Large Pores
This procedure creates tiny holes in skin that’s been damaged by the sun, or in skin blemished by wrinkles or scars. When these holes heal, your skin is refreshed. Microneedling can restore your skin. It can give you a healthier appearance
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a skin rejuvenation procedure that uses tiny needles to induce a controlled injury on the skin, stimulating collagen development. Small wounds cause the skin to regenerate itself by developing new collagen, resulting in plumper, softer, and healthier skin.
The Benefits of Microneedling
Microneedling increases collagen production and releases natural growth factors in the skin. It also enables one to introduce rejuvenating agents into the subdermal layers, promoting the growth of fresh, healthier skin.
- A reduction in the number and depth of acne scars.
- Fewer and lesswrinkles and facial lines.
- Softer, less noticeable scarring from trauma.
What is a SkinPen?
SkinPen® by Bellus Medical is the first microneedling device in the world cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, clinically shown to safely and effectively treat facial acne scars for ages 22 and up. With as few as three non-invasive and affordable treatments spaced 30 days apart, you can improve your appearance and step out with confidence
Reduce the presence of acne scars, level out your skin tone and texture, firm up your skin, and give it a lift! Microneedling makes use of a safe device that causes micro-injuries to your skin, causing it to repair itself by spontaneously making more collagen. You’ll have noticeable effects in as little as three treatments.
How Does Microneedling Work?
Hundreds of micro-injuries, or tiny, almost imperceptible holes in your skin, are created by the needles on the microneedling system during the procedure. Your skin’s normal response to damage is to repair itself by producing more collagen, which encourages elasticity and firmness.
Your new skin will have even texture and tone as the body develops more skin cells to regenerate from the minor abrasions. To produce noticeable results, we recommend a minimum of three treatments.
What To Expect?
- You will be given a topical numbing cream to help you relax through the microneedling process.
- Your nurse will use the microneedling device to treat the skin.
- Following microneedling, we will add one or more rejuvenating agents. Hyaluronic acid gel and other advanced growth factors can be used to help rejuvenate the skin. During your appointment, you will explore which rejuvenating agents are the right match for your needs. Your treatment will be completed after the serum has dried in place.
What to Expect After Your Microneedling Treatment
Within one to two weeks, patients notice a change in the appearance of their skin as well as a reduction in pore size. Microneedling sessions are scheduled one month apart, with three or six treatments overall to achieve the best results.
FAQ
Does it hurt to have the treatment?
Very few of our patients report any pain as a result of the treatment. Except in more severe treatments, such as those with extensive facial scars, patients rarely describe microneedling as painful.
How much better will my acne scars be after microneedling?
Although each patient is unique, we usually see a 20% to 30% reduction in the prevalence of acne scars. This can make a significant difference in your overall appearance.
How does the in-office device compare to at-home models?
At home rollers should never be used because they can tear the skin and cause new scarring and infection
How do microneedling results compare to that of a laser?
Similarly. Most lasers work by causing controlled regions of injury deep inside the skin, which allows the skin to create more collagen and “anti-aging” proteins. Many of these lasers use thermal or heat energy to trigger this reaction, while microneedling uses physical means to achieve the same results.
